Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs visits Helsinki on the invitation of Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen on 8-9 July. The discussions will, inter alia, touch upon the idea of a global strategy for the EU proposed by Minister Väyrynen in the Development Ministers meeting in June, the EU-US dialogue on development policy, issues pertaining to the Lisbon treaty and the new EU External Action Service, climate funding, and productivity of development cooperation.
Commissioner Piebalgs will also meet with Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb and take part in a meeting with non-governmental organisations organised by the commission.
